KEMPTON TIPS

1.40
MAGIC DANCER was decent on the level and has shown some promise since switching to hurdles. He was beaten a next at Huntingdon last time on the back of another solid second at Fakenham. He looks on a fair mark and should be fit enough coming from a yard that’s enjoying a good spell.
2.10
GET ON THE YAGER was pretty green when beaten 11 lengths at Warwick last time but that was in a Grade 2 so can’t be classed as a bad effort. It’s stronger form that any of today’s rivals have shown and he saw out this distance well on similar ground.
2.40
CAPTAIN BUCK’S won a bumper at Taunton and made a pleasing start to his hurdling career at the same track last time out. He was beaten just over four lengths there and looks certain to improve for the experience.
3.10
VYTA DU ROC comes here under a cloud after being pulled up at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day after being well supported in the ring. That led the handicapper to give him a little nudge downwards and he won a Grade 2 over this distance at Ascot. With Nicky Henderson’s horses going well he should give a good account.

Steven Mullen's Top Tip

Kempton 3.45: Bulfin Island

3.45
BULFIN ISLAND looks a real stayer so this trip may prove on the short side over time. But he looks on a very fair mark for this handicap debut. He has shown promise on his past two outings, finishing third at Chepstow and running to a similar level in fourth at Plumpton last time. He wasn’t asked too many questions there and should be capable of better.
4.15
POLITOLOGUE should be much too strong for his sole rival. But something’s gone badly awry when only two horses turn up for a £16,500 pot.
4.50
This is a race to keep an eye on as there are some potentially nice types at the start of their career. Given that Nicky Henderson has farmed this race, we’ll go for WHATSWRONGWITHYOU. He was an easy point-to-point winner last time and, while that may not say much, the betting market is likely to.
